Gulfport HS Baseball - Here is some info from a source of mine in regard to the future of baseball at Gulfport HS.
"I think that Gulfport high school baseball is on the rise. The 15-year old Babe Ruth team just won the state tournament in Corinth, MS. this past Monday. The team is made up mostly of Gulfport high school players that played on the freshmen team. They are going to Russellville, Ark. next Wednesday to play in the Southwest Regional tournament. They are five wins away from the Babe Ruth World Series. This is only the second team from Gulfport to win a state championship in Babe Ruth 13 years or older. The first time a Gulfport team did this was five years ago. Look for this team to be the host team next summer when Gulfport hosts the 2001, 16-year old Babe Ruth World Series. Gulfport high school is definitely getting a talented group of athletes with this class."

Warren Central HS Football - Warren Central has a defensive tackle, Thad Henderson (I believe that is his name), who bears watching this coming football season. He has great talent but is not receiving the attention he deserves because he is only 6-0. Thad, who is 6-0, 265, is smart, fast and strong. According to my source, he was selected by the coaches to the All-Warren Central All-Time team.

Ripley HS Football - The word is Ripley High School quarterback/punter Brandon Roberson attended one of the biggest punting and kicking camps in the United States very recently. According to my source, he won the Strongest Leg Award and the Best Hangtime Award (over 5 seconds per punt). My source also said that Washington has offered and wants him to schedule a visit. UCLA, Arizona State, USC and California have also expressed a strong interest as have several SEC schools.
This is not the first time that Brandon has done well in front of folks who run a kicking camp. He also impressed several representatives from the Ray Guy Kicking Camp, the most prestigious kicking camp in the nation, during the spring. My source stated that he had heard that the reps said that Brandon had the strongest leg that they had seen up to that time. I believe Brandon has either attended or will attend a Ray Guy camp this summer.
