Wayne County HS - Watch out for Wayne County HS's football team next season. They have several players who you need to keep an eye on. They are senior-to-be defensive lineman Willie Evans (6-3, 260, 4.8). Willie, who is an honor roll student, benches 315 and squats 550 and is a great athlete who also plays three other sports. Junior-to-be Akeem Lofton is a quarterback/athlete type who is 5-11, 180 and runs a 4.6 forty. This past season he rushed for 957 yards and had 550 return yards. Sophomores-to-be Michael McLaughlin, Cedric Jones and Steve Gandy are also players that bear watching. McLaughlin is a 6-0, 195, 4.6 tailback who rushed for 425 yards as a true freshman. Jones is a young pup who already has the height, 6-5, and the speed, 4.8, but only needs to add more weight to his 195-pound frame to be a solid college defensive end prospect. Gandy is a 6-0, 180, 4.65 strong safety who is already a big-time hitter.

Senatobia HS - Watch out for Senatobia HS senior-to-be tight end Blake Skelton next year. Blake, who is only 16 years old, is 6-4 and weighs about 190 pounds. He needs to gain quite a bit of weight to be a tight end in college but, according to my source, already has the body frame, hands and speed necessary to play on the next level. He is also a starter on the baseball and basketball teams. Plus, he is a good student.

Coldwater HS - Jeramie Migale Moore, the talented 10th grader out of Coldwater High School you have read about on Gene's Page for the past few months, had another great game a few nights ago versus Hernando High School in Hernando, Miss. He had 16 points, 9 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 steals in just 20 minutes of play. He is not only a threat on the basketball court but is also a very gifted artist with hopes of majoring in graphic arts in college. You college coaches who check out my page may want to take note of that for future reference.

West Point HS - According to a source of mine, WPHS has a baseball player that bears watching the next two years. Corey Carter is a 6-2, 205, junior and runs a 6.45 sixty. He is being recruited by Georgia Tech, LSU, Texas, Oklahoma, Southern Miss, Alabama, Ole Miss and is also being looked at by Tennessee. As of right now, Corey is probably leaning to Ole Miss. My source went on to say that Corey is also being looked at by numerous pro baseball teams. He is rumored to be one of the top juniors in the country, according to my source.
