CALEDONIA HS - I took time out to go to a Caledonia HS baseball game Tuesday evening to watch junior pitcher Josh Johnson. Josh, who is approximately 6-0, 165 pounds, showed very good velocity for a junior in high school, throwing the ball in the 84-86 mph range in the first inning. Showing good stamina, he continued to throw his fastball in the 83-85 mph range in the fourth. He also threw a 69-71 mph curve ball, showing very good control of it. To top off the night, he hit a home run.

CLINTON HS - Junior pitcher Mike Cashion is doing well this baseball season. Mike, who is also Clinton's starting quarterback, has won 2 games (McComb and Meridian). Pitching 9 innings, he has struck out 13, walked 0, and allowed 6 hits. His ERA is 3.11. His team is 4-0.

WARREN CENTRAL HS (Vicksburg) - Here is an update on junior Tyler DeRossette (5-11, 220). Tyler, who is a two-year starter in football, has made 309 tackles (215 solo) the past two seasons. He earned All-County both seasons and also made All-Region this past season. He currently runs the 40 in 4.7 seconds and benches 300 pounds while squatting 600. Tyler, who is an excellent student, also is a very good baseball player (catcher).

CALEDONIA HS - Caledonia HS basketball won once again, this time defeating South Pontotoc. Caledonia is now 16-6 on the season and are headed to the playoffs. Caledonia's talented sophomore Derrick Westbrook scored 28 points, including one 3-pointer. Teammate Dezmond Sherrod also scored in double figures with 14 point. Both players only played three quarters due to the game been so one-sided after the third quarter.

Dezmond (6-4, 210), is not only a good basketball player, but is also a very good football player and, according to his football coach, Jack Hankins, a possible D-I talent in that sport. He plays tight end. He is also an excellent student and a great kid according to folks who know him.

HICKORY FLAT HS - Hickory Flat HS junior sensation Lamar Sanders scored 48 points a few days ago. I will have an interview with Sanders on my page in the next couple of days. Lamar has scored 60 points in one game this year and over 40 in several others.

MABEN HS - Freshman basketball player Kandra Bell, a player that I mentioned on my front page yesterday, is leading her team in scoring for the second year in a row. She is averaging 14 points per game and is shooting 60% from the free-throw line. He game high this year is 25 points against French Camp. She has made 21 three-pointers this season, including 5 against East Webster. If you get the chance, make sure you go out and see her play. You will be impressed.
