12/26/02
Winona HS - The honors pile up for senior linebacker Brandon Kim. Recording 122 tackles in 6.5 games after missing 5 games due to a skiing accident, Brandon was named All-Area Defensive Player of the Year, MAC First-Team 2A All-State and Defensive MVP of Region 2-2A.

12/20/02
Laurel HS - Northeast Jones High School is not the only school in Laurel that has a very good offensive lineman. Laurel High School also has a good one in David Steinwinder (6-4, 270, 5.3). David was voted MVP offensive lineman in his region, made MAC Second Team All-State and is an excellent student as well.

Winona HS - A couple of days ago I mentioned three sophomores on the Winona team that are very good players. Winona also has an outstanding senior linebacker. During 6.5 games this season, Brandon Kim recorded 122 tackles. He missed the first five games due to a skiing accident. An outstanding talent, the only thing keeping him from receiving attention from D-I school is his size (5-9, 195). Maybe some coach from a D-1AA or D2 school will take a look at Brandon.

12/18/02
Winona HS - Winona High School has three sophomores that bear watching the next two years.

  • Defensive Back: LaMarcus Russell, 6-2, 175, 4.7 in the 40, 7 interceptions, 81 tackles.
  • Wide Receiver: Cody Washington, 5-9, 160, 4.5 in the 40, 26 receptions, 476 yards, 6 touchdowns in 7 games.
  • Offensive Tackle: Ronnie Jo Jones, 6-1, 350, 325 bench press, excellent student.

    12/14/02
Northwest Rankin HS - Alex McIntosh (Northwest Rankin HS) is considered one of the top baseball players in Mississippi this year. An excellent student who has made a 35 on the ACT and 1490 on the SAT, Alex is now up to 6-6 and 230 pounds. His 40 speed is 4.75. Auburn is showing very strong interest in Alex for their baseball team.
