New Albany HS - Senior Collins Coltharp has similar tools as Eli Whiteside, another former catcher from New Albany. According to his coach, Curt Fowler, "Collins has the frame to add needed muscle and weight for the pounding he'll take behind the plate. He has an excellent bat, hitting for power and average."
After batting .469 last season, he made the Daily Journal All-Area team. He was also 2nd team 3A All State last year. Calling all the pitches during the game, he has served as a team captain for the past 2 seasons.
After adding 15 pounds of muscle during the off-season, he has improved his times to second, now averaging just under 2.0 seconds on throws to second.
Schools that are currently recruiting him include Southwest TN CC, Northeast CC, and Delta State. Don't be surprised if other schools get involved as the baseball season progresses.
New Albany also has three other players that are drawing recruiting interest: SS/2B Steven Saul has been contacted by Murray State University, Southwest TN CC and Northeast CC; Joel Gafford, LHP/1B/OF and SS/OF/P Jack Ballard are both receiving attention from Southwest TN CC and Northeast CC.
Neshoba Central HS - Keep an eye our for Tyler Hardy, a 6-2, 230-pound center from Neshoba Central HS. Tyler made All-Region 2-4A and All-Area. Not only that, but, according to my source, he is also an excellent student, carrying a 4.0 gpa in the classroom.

Clarkdale HS - Brandon Mabry, is a 6-2, 185-pound, senior outfielder who plays for Clarkdale High Schools. According to my source, he has been a starter since the 8th grade, batted .403 as a junior and hasn't made an error in two years.
Baldwyn HS - Senior offensive lineman Trey Powell was selected to the MAC All-State first-team and the Daily Journal All-Area team, both for the second straight year. The Region 1-2a Best Offensive Lineman, he also made that region's Super 24 Team. He has a visit scheduled to the University of North Alabama late this month.
Hernando HS - According to a source of mine, Chad Gatewood is a very good left-handed hitter who made All-State, All-Conference, All-District since his sophomore year. This past year he was one of only 18 players who made the American Team that when to Japan to play for the summer. Receiving attention from several ACC and CUSA teams. Ole Miss is rumored to have just found out about him and may be interested.

McLaurin HS - Senior lineman Ricky Reed, 6-3, 286, was selected All-District, All-State and has been nominated for the North/South All-Star football game and the Alabama/Mississippi All-Star football game. He is also a member of the McLaurin High School weight lifting team.
