Jim Hill HS (Jackson) - Senior-to-be Tivan Harris (5-8, 260) is a solid defensive tackle who plays for Jim Hill HS. Although he lacks the height colleges are looking for, Tivan makes up for his lack of height with exceptional strength as evidenced by his 385 bench, 515 squat, 245 clean and 315 push jerk Last season Tivan recorded 37 tackles with 4.5 sacks, 2 fumble recoveries and 4 forced fumbles.

Starkville HS Football - According to a source of mine, defensive lineman Derrick Outlaw is now 6-4, 270 and runs the forty in 4.9. As a sophomore, he started all of SHS's games and recorded 70 tackles, including 11 for a loss, 1 sack, and 1 interception for a touchdown. He will be attending the prestigious Nike Camp at Auburn this spring, one of just 10 sophomores in Mississippi that have been invited to the camp. Oh yeah, he has good bloodlines as evidenced by the fact that he is Travis Outlaw's first cousin. Travis, a MSU basketball signee is considered one of the top 5 to 10 players in the nation. Don't be surprised if Derrick also becomes a national recruit by his senior season.

Clarksdale HS Track - CHS has one of the top triple jumpers in Mississippi and maybe in the south. Cornelius McGee is off to a terrific start, winning his first two track meets, including the Oxford Eagle Invitational. His best jump has been 44-9. As a freshman, Cornelius had a best jump of 43-6 and finished 5th in the state. What makes that so amazing is he did it with a pulled upper hamstring. Keep an eye out for this big-time track prospect.

Vicksburg HS Baseball - Lefty James Jackson, a 5-8, 170-pound junior at Vicksburg High School, has topped out at 94 mph this season. He may not be imposing on the mound, but with that velocity, look for his stock to rise as more colleges find out about him.

Jackson Academy - After the 2002 football season, in which he ran for almost 1,000 yards, Jackson Academy running back Nicholas Jew decided to concentrate on getting ready for his senior year football season by focusing on working out in the weight room. He opted not to play varsity basketball this 2002-03 season and it paid off by adding 18 pounds of muscle to his frame. With the added weight, he now weighs 178 pounds with the goal of weighing 180 pound prior to his senior season.

Nicholas, who was selected to the Clarion-Ledger Metro Player Performer list 5 times, was named MPSA All-Conference Second-Team running back this past season.

Not only an excellent running back. Nicholas is also a standout track athlete. In fact, he currently leads in the MPSA for the 110m high hurdle at 16.44 and the 300 low hurdles at 40.70....bettering his time last year. He is also on the varsity 800m and 1600m relay teams. Nicholas runs a 4.5 40-yard dash.

Academically, Nicholas has been an honor student since junior high and maintains an A average. His most recent academic accomplishments include induction into the National Honor Society, qualifying for the National Merit Scholarship Program, and a recent GPA of 101.44.
