Tupelo HS - Tupelo High School has a freshman quarterback who bears watching. Brent Baxter, a 6-4, 170-pounder, is the younger brother of Bo and Ben Baxter. Bo is a former Tupelo HS player while Ben is currently a junior running back on the team.
Ridgeland HS - According to a couple of sources of mine, the Ridgeland High School football and baseball players listed below have the potential to be college prospects.
Keith Whitfield - Senior running back, 6-0, 208, 4.5. Has bulked up from 175 pounds after a sensational junior season, running for over 1,000 yards and 12 touchdowns. Benches 280, Squats 525, Deadlifts 650. Outstanding person who will unofficially visit numerous colleges throughout the south this fall.
Blake Hitchcock - Senior quarterback, 5-11, 165, 4.6. A two-sport standout who started as a junior and threw for 500 yards and also rushed for 500 yards. Also started at shortstop in baseball, earning first-team All-Division 4-4A honors after hitting .320 with 6 home runs and 25 RBI.
Jessie Benfield - Junior defensive end/offensive tackle, 6-5, 275, 4.8. A Clarion-Ledger Top Junior To Watch selection. According to my source, Jessie is a massive-sized player who destroys opponents with his quick feet and strong upper body. Also started at center on the varsity basketball team.
Jay Roberts - Senior kicker. According to my source, he kicked two 62-year field goals during a kicking camp this past summer. He also is an excellent soccer player.
Edward Joe - Junior linebacker, 5-11, 200, 4.8. A two sport standout who started as a sophomore in football, recording 50 tackles - 5 for tackles for losses - and 1 interception for the Titans. Benches 230 and squats 450. Also started in baseball as a catcher, batting .350 with 8 doubles 1 triple and 2 home runs with 35 RBI.
