NCAA Guide for the College-Bound Student-Athlete

02/21/04
St. Joseph's (Greenville) - Watch out for junior Max Freeman, a 6-3, 180-pound SS/RHP. Played in the Mississippi State Games in Meridian, Miss...a starter at shortstop since the 8th grade...batted .489 with 6 home runs...had a 8-2 record as a pitcher...receiving letters from Mississippi State, Ole Miss and Delta State.

Okolona HS - Junior running back Andrew Eddie is currently playing basketball and averaging 18 points per game. He also plans on participating in track. Already an ACT qualifier, look for Andrew to possibly be one of the top running backs in the state this coming season.

Starkville HS - Senior-to-be defensive lineman Derrick Outlaw is not the only class of 2005 prospect on the Starkville HS team. Watch out for Pat Swoopes (OL, 6-foot-5, 300), Monterio James (DB, 5-foot-10, 170) and Marques Branson (WR, 6-foot-2, 195).

Drew HS - Although I did a recent article about Drew HS's outstanding defensive tackle Demarcus Willis, he's not their only senior-to-be that has a chance to be a D-I prospect. Darius Jenkins, a 6-foot, 180-pound running back with 4.5 speed, and Isadore Moore, a 5-foot-9, 215-pound fullback with 4.8 speed, are two other players to watch this coming season.

Brandon HS - Most folks have heard of senior-to-be linebacker Blake Spiers, but Brandon HS also has another senior-to-be, 6-foot-2, 250-pound offensive guard Andrew Mann, who has a chance to be a D-I prospect.

02/17/04
Jackson Academy - Scott King is a 6-foot-3, 195-pound, junior first baseman who plays for Jackson Academy. According to my source, as a sophomore, Scott led JA in home runs and extra base hits. He also plays for Charlie Russell's Jackson 96ers summer showcase team. My source went on to say that Scott has been noticed for his hitting and defense at the Ole Miss and Mississippi State camps and is also receiving attention from Tennessee and Auburn. Not only is he an excellent baseball player but he also is doing great in the classroom as evident by his 3.9 GPA and 26 ACT score.

02/13/04
Leake Academy - 5-foot-9, 150-pound senior Jeffery Chancellor plays football and baseball for Leake Academy. On the football team he played tailback and rushed for 1,408 yards this past season. Running a 4.6 forty, Jeffrey was selected All-Conference in football and played in the MPSA All Star football game at Mississippi College.

In baseball, he played centerfield. After hitting .389 as a sophomore, he improved his batting average to .489 as lead off hitter with 21 RBI's and 15 stolen bases and one solo home run. Playing summer ball, he hit 7 home runs, including 2 grand slams.

He has made visits to Delta State and Belhaven for football.

Hillcrest Christian School - Keep an eye out for HCS junior pitcher Cody Satterwhite. Cody, who is 6-foot-3 and 185 pounds, topped out at 91 mph at the Ole Miss camp.
