11/06/99 - The Dog Pound Rock fever is spreading. Here's an email quote I received from one of you.
"Gene, it's catching on fast. Newton High School's entire team did it tonight on the sidelines at the beginning of the game."
11/04/99 - According to my source, North Little Rock, Arkansas won the Ole Miss Fall Wooden Bat tourney this past weekend with an undefeated record of 4-0. Clay Godwin, Tupelo High School, threw a 7 inning no-hitter. Robbie Goodson, Vicksburg High School, hit two home runs and had a pitching victory in the tourney. Five of 8 pitchers used by the Mississippi Stars did not give up any runs during their pitching appearances this weekend. The Mississippi Stars had their 9th consecutive winning fall season (20-10-1).
My source also said that any players that are interested in playing on next fall's team should contact Mississippi Stars team manager Harry Porter at biporter@juno.com.

11/02/99 - Saltillo HS has a player who could be one of the best kept secrets in Mississippi high school football according to a source of mine. His name is Nathan Murff. Nathan is a 5-9, 175-lb, WR/RB/DB who has very good speed and is an excellent student. He was voted 1998 SHS Football Co-MVP by the coaches his junior year.
11/02/99 - North Delta finished 9-1 in its first season under coach Willis Wright. They won the district championship vs. Heritage Academy Friday night 31-13. Junior running back Hayden Sullivant finished the regular season with 145 carries for 2,036 yards (avg.14.0) and 31 touchdowns.
11/01/99 - Here are observations from one of you.
I went to the Choctaw Central Classic Saturday night. Junior guard/forward Tan White of Tupelo looked incredible. Yazoo County has 3 tough players in Seneca Anderson, Larisha Graves, and Jackie Gainwell. All have committed to Mississippi State. A team to look out for is the West Lauderdale Lady Knights. They may not dethrone Yazoo County, but they looked impressive.
