  • Tomorrow, I will list the Mississippi CC players that were listed in the Others to Watch section. There are 30 of them. Later this week I will post the complete Mississippi CC schedule for the upcoming season. A big thank you goes to Northwest Mississippi CC's Brett Brown for providing this info to me. With Brett's help, as well as help from other contacts who know a lot about the community colleges in Mississippi, I hope to provide the coverage the community colleges in Mississippi deserve.

08/10/98 - Did you know East Miss. CC graduated 90% of their football players last season? Did you also know that in the past 6 years, 106 of their players have signed scholarships with 4-year colleges?

Other facts: Five offensive players to watch this season are running backs Carl Fair and Antonia Williams (6-A Player-of-the-Year in Alabama), fullback Tanny Flowers, wide receiversLarry Huntington and Jason Franklin. A defensive tackle to watch is Rashon Jones.

08/07/98 - Brett Brown, a 1988 graduate of Northwest Mississippi Community College and presently the head coach of the Northwest Mississippi Community College tennis program and assistant for sports information, has very kindly agreed to provide weekly Mississippi community college football info for my page. Included in this info will be weekly scores and statistics (Brett gathers this info for all community colleges in Mississippi and provides it to the media). He has also faxed me the complete schedules for each community college in Mississippi, the 1998 NJCAA Pre-Season All-American team and several other things I believe each of you will be interested in. I will post as much as I can over the next few days. I would just like to say welcome aboard, Brett. Your contributions will be immeasurable.

08/07/98 - Go here to see the 1998 NJCAA Pre-Season Football Poll. Four Mississippi teams (7th - Hinds CC; 9th - Jones JC; 16th - Mississippi Delta CC; 22nd - Northwest Mississippi CC) made the top 25 and one team (Southwest Mississippi CC) made the Others list.
