09/24/98 - Northwest Mississippi Community College Press Release:
Northwest Mississippi Community College's Kevin Jones, one of the top running backs in the nation, has announced his commitment to play football for the University of Mississippi next season.
Jones, who is 5-8, 180 pounds, has rushed for 274 yards and two touchdowns on 64 carries through three games for the Rangers this season. Jones also has caught two passes for 33 yards.
Selected pre-season honorable mention All-American by the NJCAA, Jones rushed for 1,188 yards as a freshman at Northwest in 1997, while scoring eight touchdowns. Jones, a native of Batesville (MS), also made six receptions for 114 yards and two more scores.
Currently, Jones ranks fourth on Northwest's all-time rushing list with 1,462 yards and needs only 822 yards to become the school's overall leader.
