05/13/99 - The Northwest (MS) CC Rangers are now 38-6-1 for the season. They have won the North Division with a couple of division games and about 6 regular season games left before the state playoffs next weekend. The last two division games are Saturday at East MS (CC), also known as Scooba by many.
05/10/99 - Watch out for this Juco sophomore-to-be. Thomas Terrell is a 1998 Brookhaven (MS) HS grad who played in the Alabama/Mississippi All-Star game and turned down some D-1 offers to go to Co-Lin CC and a chance to play in the big-time after Juco. He is a 6-7, 240-lb. power forward who averaged about 20 points a game as a freshman last season.
05/08/99 - Clarification: Just received info from a very reliable source who told me for a player from Tupelo HS (George Purnell in this case) to receive a scholarship to play at Holmes CC, he would have to receive a release from Itawamba CC. The CC's are all bound by district recruiting lines. Releases are reserved for the players not offered and signed by their home district.
05/07/99 - I heard from a very solid source that Holmes CC is giving serious looks at Tupelo HS's running back George Purnell (legit 4.4 speed) and Ackerman's Brian Shumaker.
