8/15/00 - MSU basketball player LaToya Thomas was accidentally shot while at a basketball court in downtown Greenville, Mississippi. LaToya was shot in the finger and arm. She and her brother had been playing basketball prior to the shooting accident. The shooting occurred when a vehicle drove by and someone pulled out a gun and fired into a nearby crowd. One of the bullets ricocheted and hit LaToya. She was taken to the hospital but was later released and is recovering at home.
8/14/00 - Here is a little info on Ray Goffer, the Israeli player who is rumored to be walking on at Mississippi State this fall. According to my source, who has seen him play in person and on tape, he is an offensive minded point guard who likes to penetrate and is not afraid to take it to the hoop against the big post players. My source also mentioned that he is a good outside shooter. Goffer, who is 6-2, has average foot speed and needs to work on his defense, according to my source. Because of his age, 22 years old, he will only be allowed to play three years of college basketball.
