The SEC has had at least three teams ranked in 78 of the last 79 Associated Press Top 25 polls and 79 of the last 81 USA Today/ESPN coaches' polls, dating back to the 1998-99 season.
This week, the SEC leads the nation with six teams ranked in the AP poll. No. 6 Florida leads the way followed by Alabama (9), Mississippi State (14), Kentucky (16), Georgia (20) and LSU. It's only the fourth time in league history that six teams have been ranked in a single AP Poll. The previous three occurrences were during the 1999-00 season (Feb. 1, 8 and 22). In the USA Today/ESPN Coaches poll, Florida leads the SEC's five-team pack at No. 7 with Alabama at No. 10, Mississippi State at No. 13, Kentucky at No. 16 and Georgia at No. 22. The SEC is tied with the Big 12 with five teams in both polls. Texas Tech and LSU are only in one poll.
