06/17/04 - Although he didn't announce his decision last night, Lawrence Roberts was on ESPN's Outside the Lines. It was obvious he, his mother and his father, in their hearts, want him to be an NBA first-rounder. ESPN pointed out many facts that point to him not being a first-rounder this year.

  • None of the NBA GMs mentioned what his draft status will be but they all mentioned things that he needs to work on.
  • He was measured at 6-7.5. He is listed at 6-9.
  • While he performed well at the Chicago NBA camp, he didn't receive any calls from NBA folks after the camp.
  • ESPN also mentioned during the segment that a player that is normally a first-rounder has more than one individual workout with a team. Lawrence has had a couple of workouts, but not more than one with any team.
  • According to ESPN, the NBA had 8 mock drafts this past weekend, Lawrence wasn't drafted in the first round in any of them.
  • ESPN also pointed out that, of all the websites that predict who will be drafted in the first and second rounds, Lawrence's name isn't in the first round on any of them.

    Lawrence Roberts comments.

  • When asked if the above would be a factor in his decision, Lawrence said yes it would.
  • He also said he might wait until the final hour before making his decision. He has until 5 p.m. ET this afternoon to make that decision.
  • Lawrence, when asked his thoughts about going back to Mississippi State for his senior season, said there would be a lot of pre-season honors and he would enjoy playing for a great team that has great coaches.

06/09/04 - I thought you guys would like to know that all three of MSU's freshman signees - Charles Rhodes, Jerrell Houston and Walter Sharpe - are currently attending summer school at MSU.
