08/18/99 - There is some good news regarding former MSU basketball Bulldog Dontae Jones. At a hearing in Nashville, yesteray, the judge dismissed two of the three charges from a shooting incident outside Players Drafthouse Club in the Nashville area.
The charges dropped were:
1) Reckless Endangerment
2) Felony Vandalism
The one charge that was bound over to the grand jury is: Simple Assault with Bodily Injury.
The primary witness in the case has changed his story, originally claiming that he saw Jones fire a handgun belonging to Jones' friend (and other arrestee) Karsha Darby, to stating that he saw Darby hand the gun to Jones, but did not see the actual shoots fired, because he (the witness) turned his back to duck for cover.
The one charge that is bound over carries a maximum $2,500 fine and 11 months, 29 days in prison.
