10/31/99 - Notes from yesterday's scrimmages:
10/29/99 (12:45 p.m.) - MSU recruit Darius Rice, of Lanier HS, plays his first game Saturday at 5:30 p.m. It is a home game. I know there are a lot of MSU fans in the Jackson, Clinton or Madison areas, so try and get together and go as a group. The more MSU fans, the better. Make sure you wear your MSU clothing. This is a great way to show Darius how much we would love to see him at MSU next season.
10/29/99 - MSU will play a basketball scrimmage Saturday morning at the Hump beginning at 9:30.
10/29/99 - Here's a little info from last night's Oktibbeha County Chapter of the MSU Alumni Association meeting.

Coach Stansbury Comments:
10/28/99 (8:45 a.m.) - Looks like Kentucky just picked up a 6-9 forward commitment. No, it's not Darius Rice. That makes about 5 or six young forwards that they will have on their roster next year. Click here to read the complete story....
10/28/99 - I traveled up to Tupelo yesterday to listen to Coach Stansbury speak at the Lee County Chapter of the MSU Alumni Association luncheon. Here are a few comments (complete details on my premium site).
10/26/99 (12:45 p.m.) - FAYETTEVILLE: Arkansas Coach Nolan Richardson told top prospect Darius Rice of his plans for the 6-10 forward when Rice visited Arkansas this past weekend. Richardson wants Rice to score. "He said that I'm a scorer, that I'm the type of person who can shoot but also get to the free-throw line, like Todd Day was," said Rice, of Jackson (Miss.) Lanier. "I can score anywhere. He said he had some shooters, he had some passers, but he said they don't have a scorer who can do it from anywhere. He said I could do that."..... click here for the complete article......

STARKVILLE, Miss. -- As part of Mississippi State University's Homecoming activities, coach Rick Stansbury's Bulldogs will conduct an intrasquad basketball scrimmage this Friday night at the Newell-Grissom Building on the MSU campus.
Slated to begin around 8:30 p.m., basketball activities will follow MSU's 7 p.m. volleyball match against LSU. Both of Friday's sporting events at the Newell-Grissom Building are open to the public with no charge for admission.
Immediately following the conclusion of the team's intrasquad basketball scrimmage, Bulldog players and coaches will participate in a "Meet the Bulldogs" autograph session at courtside.
Mississippi State basketball fans will have two more opportunities to watch the 1999-2000 Bulldogs free of charge, as coach Stansbury's squad will play host to the Arkansas Express and BC Honved of Hungary on Nov. 6 and Nov. 13, respectively, at Humphrey Coliseum. MSU opens the regular season by entertaining Alabama A&M on Saturday, Nov. 20.

10/14/99 - MSU women's basketball has picked up three commitments. Yazoo County seniors Jackie Gainwell, Seneca Anderson and Larisha Graves, who led the Lady Panthers to the 3A state championship last March, have verbally committed to MSU, according to their coach.
Gainwell, a 6-foot-4 All-State center, averaged 16.1 points, 16 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 steals last season for the Lady Panthers. Anderson, a 6-1 guard/forward averaged 16 points, 8 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals as a junior. Graves, a 5-8 guard/forward, averaged 16 points, 6 rebounds, 6 assists and 3 steals last season.
According to Yazoo County coach Patrick Nutter, "most schools wanted all three of them. Louisiana Tech recruited Jackie really heavy. 1) Jackie is probably the best rebounder that I have ever seen. She's an excellent ball-handler and extremely quick. She makes our fast breaks go. 2) Seneca is a great defensive player. If you make a bad pass, she's gone with it. She's a great scorer. 3) Larisha is just so physically strong. She can post up anybody. We shoot very few 3s, but she's an excellent 3-point shooter."

There is no charge for admission and an autograph session will follow the basketball scrimmage.
10/07/99 - Lanier HS basketball player Darius Rice recently visited Kentucky and has a few other visits planned. Darius is a great, great player (one of the top five forwards in the country) who, if he signs with MSU, has a chance to be one of the best players to ever suit up at MSU.
10/06/99 - Here are a few comments made by head basketball coach Rick Stansbury at the MSU Gulf Coast Boosters meeting last night:
