Football Stadium Expansion Pictures (09/24/01)

01/10/02 - Coach Sherill and Peggy are the proud grandparents of a three-day old baby boy by the name of Daniel Alexander Morse. Coach Sherrill's daughter, Kellie, and son-in-law, Owen, are the proud parents. Doug told me that this is their first child and Coach's Sherrill's first grandbaby.

01/05/02 - The MSU football coaches, along with almost all of the other college coaches, will be attending the AFCA convention Monday and Tuesday of next week.

01/03/02 - Here is the latest interview by Gene's Page recruiting correspondent Brent Bozeman. This is a sampling of what you would get if you were a member of the Gene's Page premium site.

I recently caught up with Manuel Dickson, the offensive lineman from Georgia Military and the newest member of the MSU football team. Dickson is a 6-4, 290-lb. Center/OG who will join the Bulldogs in January and will go through spring practice with the team.

Here is what Mr. Dickson had to say:

So, how does it feel to be an MSU Bulldog?
"It feels real good. I know I am going to have to work hard to live up to the standards at Mississippi State."

What schools recruited you and who offered you?
"MSU and UAB offered me."

What did you like about State?
"I liked the people I guess. That was the main thing."

What coach recruited you and what did you think of him?
"Coach Tompkins. He was cool. He was a pretty good guy."

What is your 40 time, bench and squat?
"I run a 4.9 or 5 flat. I bench 385 and squat 500."

I know you report in January and begin off-season workouts. Do you know anything about Mississippi State off-season workouts?

"They told me about that. I'm going to work hard and try to get on (the Iron Dawg poster)."

What position to you expect to play when you get to MSU?
"They want me to come in and play center."

Didn't you play guard at Georgia Military?
"Yes, I played guard mostly. I played some center too. It doesn't matter to me what position I play, but they say they want me to come in and play center."

MSU plays Oregon the first game of the year. What will MSU fans see when they see you play that first game?
"They will see a person with good feet and quickness and able to stay on blocks pretty decent. Just a player who's ready to play."

Would you say you were a better run blocker or pass blocker?
"I don't know, I couldn't really say."

Georgia Military had a good running game. Did they run behind you a lot?
"Yes, for the most part - me and the tackle. I played on the left side. They ran to both sides, but we probably ran to our side more than anything."

Would you say you were the best lineman on the team?
"No (laugh). Everybody else said I was but I don't like saying that."

You guys won the National Championship didn't you?
"Yes, that was pretty cool. We beat Butler (Butler CC, Kansas)."

What would you say your strengths and weaknesses are right now?
"I would say my quickness and my speed. My weakness is I probably need to get stronger. But I'll be good once I get in the weight room."

Thanks for your time, Manuel.
"Thank you."

01/02/02 - Cleveland East Side HS defensive end Corvelli Haynes will be visiting MSU the weekend of Jan. 11-13.
