Football Stadium Expansion Pictures (09/24/01)

07/24/02 - Just thought I would clear some things.

  • There have been several comments about the football roster. Just because a new player is listed on the current roster doesn't mean that player is academically eligible. As in years past, some players are listed on the preseason roster even though their academic status is unknown.
  • Also, there is no NCAA rule stating that a certain of number of players can be listed on the preseason roster. The college can list as many as they want.
  • The NCAA does have a rule that requires each D-I college football team to bring in no more than 105 players - walk-ons and scholarship - for two-a-days. Once fall classes begin, then the college can bring in as many additional walk-ons as it wants to. There is no NCAA limit as to the number of walk-ons that are allowed on a team. That number is left up to each institution.

07/18/02 - Don't forget that the 25th Annunal Central Mississippi Alumni Summer Extravaganza is tonight at the Mississippi Coliseum in Jackson, Mississippi. The doors open at 5:30 p.m. Tickets are $7 at the door. Students get in free. Coaches Sherrill, Stansbury, Polk and Fanning will speak.

07/12/02 - MSU football Fan Day is scheduled for August 24th.

07/04/02 - I talked to senior offensive tackle Carl Hutchins about his ankle injury. He said he got off the boot permanently but is having to wear something to keep his arch up. He can't run because the MSU team doctor found a tear in it when they did an MRI. He will have to rehab until he can run again. He expects to be ready before for the season.
